Cured Sickness or Unlucky Molly

We had our latest acquisition, the Black male Molly, die on us this past Monday. Found it hidden behind the treasure chest, under the tank filter and tucked under a fake plant.

I swear, it's the 3rd or 4th one to die on us in a row. GFâ„¢ is insistant on a so-called even number of fish. I'd rather follow the hints and not bother as the worst the remaining fish have been was a small bout of ick this past weekend/week.

Speaking of, on Sunday GFâ„¢ insisted on putting a dose of Ick Clear in the tank as she saw a big white dot on the Creamsicle Molly and thought it was ick. Doing so required us to take out the tank filter due to it coming with carbon already inside it. I saw that it was close to being plugged, so I tossed that one and got a new one ready to go. After 48 hours or so, the fish in question looked fine and thus I put the new filter in, which would have been Wednesday, March 26th.
Will keep an eye on tank filter and replace as necessary, noting here when completed.

Can't keep 3 Mollies

Just found the Black Molly dead behind the treasure chest. It had to have died overnight as none of the fish had started to eat it. It probably helped that it was in a hidden spot of sorts next to a plant and underneath the tank filter as well.

New fish or Balloon Mollies suck

Got a male Black Molly this morning to replace the Balloon Molly we lost last Saturday. We'll see how it goes.

Also learned that Swordtails are not Mollies but are their own species themselves, though they will crossbreed with Platies.

We definitely are never getting Ballon Mollies again as it seems they can't handle stress or something. The two or three we've ever had have died on us not too long after we brought them home. And thus, they suck.

With this, it seems we now have three Danios, three Platies, two Mollies, a Swordtail and a Plecostmus. Two more Danios and we'll have a Fibonacci tank.

We picked up a female Silver Balloon Molly.

We've never had Balloon Mollies survive with us before, so we'll see how this goes.

Just found this one upside down not moving with a couple brown spots on the body next to a fake plant. It was dead. I used the net, grabbed it and once I determined it was dead, I flushed it down the toilet. Had it been just seriously sick, I would have frozen it to put it out of its misery.

New rule: No more Balloon Mollies.

D-I-R-T-Y or Algea, algea everywhere

As previously noted, we picked up a female Silver Ballon Molly from the store after freezing the previous male Silver Molly.

This brings the ratio of female Mollies & Platies to male ones down to 5:1. Hope he's happy.

Also, I have noticed that the Balloon Molly has become less balloon-like in the past few days. Could it be something that happens while in the store or is it just how she looks through the glass on the tank.

We are down to just one male of either Mollies or Platies, so this should keep him happy. Plus, with our big momma Pineapple Swordtail Molly, things should be fine, but we'll see.
