Wisconsin Dells, the water park/tourist trap of America...

...and I'd go again.

Just got home from Wisconsin Dells.

Really need to go earlier than Labor Day. Especially this year as it seems that Labor Day hit and then we went straight to October, weather-wise. Really freakin' cold.

Went on the Original Wisconsin Ducks. They are actual Army DUKW made by General Motors back during World War 2. They were in service from 1943 to the Korean War. Hour long tour on the Lower Dells and Lake Delton.

Stopped by the Dells Mining Co. You buy a bucket of sand that has various gems in it and you sift out the sand using water like prospecters used to do way back when. Got quite a haul and may turn a few of them into quality gems so they can be inserted into rings, earrings, necklaces, etc.

Visited the Ripley's Believe It Or Not! Museum in Downtown Wisconsin Dells. Nice place.

There was a place called Top Secret, which had the White House and the US Capital upside down. More of a funhouse than anything else and to be quite frank, the tour guide didn't help things with her accent and after a few so-called suprises, it started to grate on my nerves. Wouldn't recommend it.

If it hadn't been so cold or if it were earlier in the year, would have gone to Noah's Ark waterpark and a water and theme park down the road from it called Mt. Olympus. Looks like it has a very nice roller coaster that travels underground below their go-kart track which goes up a couple stories before coming down.

We did go to the Kalahari Indoor Water Park. Very nice place and am glad we didn't head there before 5pm. Prices drop almost in half after 5pm every day.

Next time, I'm going early in the season so I can catch the Tommy Barlett Show before the crowds come in. The Tommy Barlett Exploratory is mainly aimed at kids, though, so recommend for those with children under the age of 13.
